The french existentialism was influenced by Albert Camus and prepared by André Malraux. For this reason the literary, philosophic and comparative studies of both are numerous. This thesis oppose them interdisciplinary: Camus‘ philosophic manifest Le Mythe de Sisyphe (1942) and Malraux‘ novel La condition humaine (1933). Both early works represent a powerful debut and show many parallels and replenishments because of the same western cultural background and philosophic base, but also due to Albert Camus‘ examination of Malraux.

Against the chronology I start in the first part to summarize Camus‘ theory of absurdity as a philosophical base to discuss the application in Malraux‘ novel. Because of the many points of arguments of the two texts, I concentrate my analyse on one figure, who contains the considerable aspects of an absurd hero. This thesis is expanding Camus‘ restriction:

But he has to approach simultaneously the social problems which can not be avoid in the absurd thinking (also that it could propose him more solutions and different fortes). He has to be limit however. (my translation)
