A JOURNEY – Film

A JOURNEY by Paz Katrina Jimenez on Vimeo.

As already announced I proudly present the new fashion film of Paz Katrina Jimenez. Like in the former, it was my job to stress the sujets and ambiances by the hair and make-up design. Adequate to the intimacy I chose very natural tones contrasted only with deviating details, which leads to a familiar and unsettling impression likewise.
One can extract 6 looks from the film:
The beginning scene is characterized by the play with water, which symbolizes according to my opinion loose, uncontrollable emotions. This inconceivability and overwhelmingness is realized by the straggly, unclearly pinned-up hair. The hair is also wet and are dripping from the loose streaks.
The make-up of the second look is simple and natural. The hair style is also subtle; the high knot seems girlish and the single, loose hair imply fragility and inner tension. The provisionally pinned stripe of cloth not only harmonizes with the outfit, but also indicates vulnerability and pain.
The next look focuses on the face. Due to the extraordinary head dress and the dominating tube elements, I chose a nude teint. To have an effect of deviation I stressed the (lugubrious or angry) wrinkle between the eyebrows. Minimizing the obvious and intended allusion to the Klingon forehead plastic, I played more with the natural form of the face (à la Alexander McQueens „Plato’s Atlantis“).
The 4. look is more focused on movement and wildness. As the thematic continuation of the first sujet, I repeated the knot and dissolved it into single strains to express the movements. The natural, pale make-up is subtly iridesced by a silvery, grey accentuation of the eyes.
For the next style, the irritation is affected by the hair design. The already applied high knot is now strict and compact. The face as the mirror of the soul is covered by a long and heavily falling veil of hair.
The last look is inspired by the samurais, warriors of ancient tribes and the frozen expressions of the british home guard. Obvious is the allusion to the latter by the hair construction. Due to the long and compact strands it gets, however, a wilder, more informal and tribal effect.
